A free Jackbox alternative

Short answer: Jackbox games cost money for whoever hosts, and there is no official way to play a full Jackbox party pack free in a browser. Sucker Punchline is a free party game in the same style, one shared screen plus everyone's phones, that you can start right now with nothing to buy or install. We are not affiliated with Jackbox Games.

  • Free to host
  • Browser, no install
  • 3 to 8 players plus crowd

What Jackbox costs today

Jackbox games are sold in party packs of about five games each. Only one person, the host, has to own the pack; everyone else joins from a phone at jackbox.tv with the room code [1]. The Jackbox Party Pack 11 is listed at $29.99 on Steam [2], and The Jackbox Party Pack 12 is announced for October 15, 2026 [3]. The original Quiplash is sold on its own for $9.99 [4], while Quiplash 3 comes inside The Jackbox Party Pack 7 [5]. Prices were checked on Steam in the United States on September 27, 2026; sales change them often.

Is any Jackbox free?

Three official things are free or included, but none is a full free pack in a browser:

  • The Jackbox Megapicker is free on Steam. It is a launcher and store for the Jackbox games you own, not a game [6].
  • A free smart-TV version: in April 2026 Jackbox said it hoped to bring an ad-supported beta with "a small collection" of games to one or two smart-TV platforms in summer 2026 [7]. We found no launch announcement on Jackbox's site as of September 28, 2026.
  • The Jackbox Party Essentials on Netflix (Fibbage 4, Quiplash 3 and Drawful 2) is included with a Netflix subscription and starts on a TV or in a web browser [8] [9]. It is free only if you already pay for Netflix.

If a friend already owns a pack, you can play Jackbox for free as a player: only the host needs the game [1]. Sucker Punchline is free for the host too.

What Jackbox does better

We make a free game in the same genre, so here is the honest part:

  • Variety. Every pack has several different games: drawing, trivia, bluffing, word games. We have one game. If your group wants a different kind of game every twenty minutes, a pack gives you that.
  • Huge audiences. Quiplash 3 supports an audience of up to 10,000 [5], which is built for streamers. Our crowd tops out at 200.
  • Console and TV apps. Jackbox's newest pack is announced for PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch and Apple TV [3]. We run in a web browser, so on a TV you need the TV's browser, a laptop on HDMI, or screen mirroring (setup guide).
  • Years of polish. A long-running studio with many releases. We are new.

Where Sucker Punchline is different

Free for everyone, including the host

Nobody buys anything. Open the site on the screen everyone can see and press START.

Works with one or two people

A head-to-head vote needs at least three fighters. If you are alone or a pair, the Show Runner adds AI fighters from their phone. They write from a pool of pre-written answers and vote too, with a slight lean toward human answers, and they step aside when a real person joins.

The crowd counts, but cannot drown the players

Anyone past eight joins the crowd. The whole crowd together counts as one extra voter, split by how it voted, so a crowd can swing a close bout without deciding every fight.

Every answer is read out loud

A ring announcer calls the show and a voice reads both answers in every bout, so the room hears the joke at the same moment. Turn it off on the TV if you prefer reading.

Other free party games

Sucker Punchline is one game. If your group wants something different, these are free too. We have not reviewed them; this is what each one says about itself on its own site.

Likely a better fit: for action games on a shared screen, Gaming Couch; for drawing, Gartic Phone, skribbl.io or Drawphone; for a quiz in a classroom, Kahoot!; for board games, Board Game Arena. Sucker Punchline is different: one shared screen runs the show and reads every answer aloud, everyone plays on their phone, and the game is about writing the funniest answer. Questions

Do my friends need to own Jackbox to play?

No. Only the host owns the pack; players join free from their phones [1].

Is Sucker Punchline made by Jackbox?

No. It is an independent, original game with its own name, rules, prompts, art and voices. We are not affiliated with Jackbox Games. About us.

Can we play over Zoom or Discord?
