Game night over a video call
Friends in different cities can play together: the host opens the game on a computer and shares that screen with sound on the call. Everyone sees the game screen on the call and plays on their own phone. Free, nothing to install.

Host on this computer
On a phone, START makes this phone the game screen: it shows the game and does not play.
START A GAMEThis screen shows the game: put it on the TV or share it on a call. Everyone plays on their own phone. Free, no accounts.
To play too, open
suckerpunchline.tv
on a laptop, TV or tablet and press START there.
No TV or laptop? Start here, then mirror this phone to a TV (AirPlay or Chromecast) or stand it up where everyone can see it.
3 to 8 players plus a crowd of up to 200. Alone or with one friend? AI fighters fill the ring.
The short version
- Host: open the game
On a computer, open suckerpunchline.tv in a browser and press START. Join on your own phone first to be the Show Runner.
- Host: share the tab with sound
Share the game tab (or your screen) with sound turned on. The steps for each app are below.
- Everyone: join on a phone
Go to suckerpunchline.tv on your phone and type the four-letter code from the shared screen. Scanning the QR code off a laptop screen works too.
Sharing with sound, app by app
Zoom
Click Share, pick the browser window or screen with the game, and turn on Share sound before you share [1] [2]. In the Zoom web client, choose the browser tab and tick the option to also share tab audio [1].
Google Meet
Click Present now and choose A tab, then pick the game tab. Meet shares the tab's audio with it [3]. Chrome works best for this.
Microsoft Teams
Click Share and turn on Include sound (desktop app). In Teams on the web, tick the option to share tab or system audio [4]. Microsoft notes that all computer audio, including notifications, is shared [4], so mute other apps.
Discord
Start a screen share or Go Live in a voice channel, pick the game window, and make sure its sound is included. We could not load Discord's help page to confirm the exact steps, so check its screen share settings if the sound does not come through.
Echo? The host should use headphones or keep the game's volume moderate, so the game's sound does not loop back through the host's microphone.
Settings for a call
- Timers 1.5x or 2x. Video calls add a delay between the shared screen and what people see. Longer timers keep it fair. The Show Runner sets this in the lobby.
- Crowd on. More than 8 on the call? Extra people join the crowd (up to 200) and vote.
- Family rating for mixed company, or for work: the 15-minute team icebreaker.
Why the host shares, instead of everyone opening the game
The game screen runs the show: the clock, the reading aloud and the reveals. With one shared screen everyone sees the same moment at the same time, which is where the laughs come from. Phones only carry each person's own prompts and votes.
Questions
Do the other players need Zoom or Discord on their phone?
They need to see the shared screen somewhere, usually on their computer or TV, and play on their phone. Watching the call and playing on the same phone also works, but a second screen is more comfortable.
Is there a delay?
A little, from the video call itself. Use 1.5x timers so nobody runs out of time watching a stream.
Can we play without a video call?
Everyone needs to see the same game screen, so for remote play a shared screen is the way. In one room, use a TV: TV setup.
